Mpini, 27 May 2025 — The Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS) is investigating the suspected murder of a five-year-old preschool boy found dead near an abandoned house in Mpini early this morning.
The child was reported missing shortly after midnight by a family member, who said he did not return home from his local preschool at the usual time. Before police could begin search efforts, they received a call confirming the child’s body had been discovered.
This tragic case adds to a growing number of missing children incidents in the country, some of whom have also been found dead, raising alarm within law enforcement and communities.
Commissioner Masango also called on parents, guardians, and community policing groups to strengthen efforts to protect children. He advised that those able should accompany their children to and from school and discouraged sending young children on errands that could expose them to harm.
National Commissioner Manoma Vusie Masango has urged calm amid the difficult situation, assuring the public that the police are dedicating all resources to thoroughly investigate these cases and bring any suspects to justice.
The police chief warned against individuals or groups seeking to exploit the nation’s current fear for personal or political gain, stressing the importance of supporting affected families during this time.
