SITEKI – Construction of the KaLokhayiza Pier Bridge along the D89 road, which links KaLanga and Jabula, has reached 35% completion, according to the Ministry of Public Works and Transport.

The project, which began in February, forms part of a broader effort to improve road connectivity in the eastern part of the country. The D89 road passes through multiple communities within the Lugongolweni and Mpolonjeni Tinkhundla, including areas close to Nyetane High School.

Key components of the ongoing works include the construction of the KaLokhayiza Pier Bridge itself, regravelling of a 20-kilometre stretch between KaLanga and Jabula, pipe crossings, drainage infrastructure, and the installation of road furniture.
