Siphofaneni – Police are investigating the murder of a 20-year-old woman from Sithobelweni, who was found dead inside her rented flat on Monday morning. The victim was discovered at around 10am with visible strangulation marks on her neck.
Preliminary reports suggest the killing may have stemmed from a heated argument between the woman and her boyfriend on Sunday night. It is alleged that the suspect became angry and suspicious when the victim did not answer his phone calls, accusing her of being unfaithful. A neighbour reportedly tried to intervene during the confrontation, but the dispute remained unresolved. The victim later invited the suspect into her room for a private discussion in an attempt to calm the situation.
By the next morning, she was found dead.
Police say the boyfriend, who is the prime suspect, is currently on the run.
