Cape Town, South Africa – Cape Town International Airport has been named the best airport in the world, according to the 2025 AirHelp Score rankings released this week.
Airports Company South Africa (ACSA), which manages the airport, confirmed the recognition on Thursday, citing the airport’s high performance in punctuality and customer satisfaction. Cape Town scored an overall 8.57 out of 10, including 8.6 for on-time departures and arrivals, and 8.7 for overall customer experience.
Durban’s King Shaka International Airport also featured in the top 10, ranking seventh globally with the highest punctuality score of 8.9 among the 250 airports surveyed.
The AirHelp Score is based on data collected between June 2024 and May 2025, and incorporates feedback from over 13,500 passengers across 58 countries. The scoring system considers on-time performance (60%), customer opinion (20%), and food and retail services (20%).

ACSA said the achievement reflects its investment in operational upgrades, infrastructure, and passenger services. The recognition also strengthens South Africa’s position as a competitive travel and investment destination, particularly as the aviation sector continues to rebound.
Other airports in the top 10 included Hamad International in Doha, King Khaled International in Riyadh, Muscat International in Oman, and Salt Lake City Airport in the United States.
