Travel and Tourism leaders around the globe meet virtually for the World Travel Market

Mbabane: Travel and tourism professionals from around the world will virtually connect from 9 – 12 November for the World Travel Market (WTM) Virtual, a three-day event which includes the Travel Forward Virtual and International Tourism and Investment Conference (ITIC), under the theme ‘Recover, Rebuild, Innovate.’

The virtual event has kicked off, bringing professionals in the hospitality sector together to exhibit and discuss a way forward on rebuilding the tourism industry.

Head of Marketing at Eswatini Tourism Authority (ETA) Siboniso Madlopha said Eswatini is also following the virtual event though its agent office in the United Kingdom.

World Travel Market is a UK event for the global travel industry, launched at London’s Olympia in 1980. Ever-since, the event was held physically, it is only this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic the event will be held virtually.

The International Tourism and Investment Conference (ITIC) sessions will host top politicians, academics, health experts and the world’s media, as the travel industry plans for recovery in 2021. Highlights of the agenda include Global tourism forecasts from Euromonitor International, the ITIC – International Tourism and Investment Conference, the Responsible Tourism programme, and more.

The main aim is to help recover and rebuild and shape the travel industry.

There will also be live virtual conference sessions and which will be tackling some of the issues the industry is facing today, as well as speed networking sessions, one-to-one meetings, and virtual networking opportunities. The aim is to keep the global travel conversation alive and help deliver new connections as well as offering a wide range of online business opportunities.

The event this year will also address the impact the global health pandemic has had on the travel and tourism industry and discuss a road map to recovery, identifying the trends and innovation shaping the future of the industry and show you the path that lies ahead.

“The travel and tourism industry is facing its worst crisis in living memory, so WTM Virtual will provide a crucial platform for planning the bounce-back, reconnecting with business partners, forging new connections, and learning about the best way forward,” said Madlopha.
