Lobamba – The National Team Sihlangu captain Lindo Mkhonta said they are ready to die in the field of play on Thursday in an away AFCON 2021 qualifier fixture in Congo Brazzaville .
Speaking during the national team farewell function at Technical Centre in Lobamba on Sunday, November 8, Mkhonta said as the national team they were ready for the challenge which lies ahead of them this week Thursday. He said the first three points away in Congo is more crucial than anything else for the national squad.
Sihlangu will be playing their third game in their Group I, where they lost both their opening matches against Senegal and Guinea Bissau. The national team is in the basement of the log in their Group I.
Mkhonta also said they were well prepared for the game and they are ready to die for the country in the field of play. Sihlangu players last kicked the ball in March before football was suspended due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 crisis . It will not be a the walk in the park but it will be a difficult game at all but for the month we have in training we will surprise them on Thursday. Head couch Dominic Kunene said the boys are more than ready for the clash and they are determined to work for the country and come back with positive results.
Meanwhile the only Sihlangu international, Felix ‘Fela’ Banderhorst said he is happy to be horned by the national team technical team, and he is more than ready to represent the country in the tournament. He said what is left now for them is the 90 minutes and nothing else.
“We are going to play as a team and fight for our country,” Banderhorst said.
