Royal Leopard won 2nd game in a row this season

Royal Leopard

Soccer – Royal Leopard won their first back-to-back wins of the season in the MTN Premier League when they beat Madlenya 2 – 0 at the Prince of Wales Ground on Saturday .

The win have moved the police assembly known as “ Ingwemabalabala “ to the seventh position  on the log standings, while the sugar -belt side remained in the relegation zone.

The police side controlled the game from the start, but they couldn’t penetrate Madlenya’s solid defence, with Junior Magagula missing the target from a long-range shot five minutes into the game. Magagula, who is known for his long-range shooting ability, again tried his luck from a distance and his effort flew over the crossbar in the 20th minute as Madlenya contained the hosts.

However, the troublesome Sikhumbuzo Magagula was not to be denied in first-half stoppage time as he cut inside from the right before scoring to hand Leopard a 1 – 0 lead heading into the halftime break.

The match went to break with the police side searching for the second goal, but Madlenya also tried to fight back. The second stanza saw Leopard continue where they left off in the first half as they attacked with high tempo.

Simanga Masangane and Sifiso Matse tormented Madlenya’s defence after the restart and Matse came very close to scoring when his stunning strike hit the woodwork just after the hour mark. At this stage, Leopard were all over the opposition as they pushed for another goal.

Leopard deservedly doubled their lead with 15 minutes left on the clock when Thabiso Mokenkoane netted with a great shot from a Sifiso Matse top-notch pass to make it 2-0 to the home side.

This was after they exposed the defence marshalled by Lucky Gamedze.
However, the Leopard went to sleep at the back in the latter stages of the game and almost allowed Mfundo Gamedze to snatch a late consolation goal in the 85th minute, but it was not to be as Ncamiso ‘Mbhonyo’ Dlamini was ever alert between the poles.

Madlenya pushed for a goal but it did not come as Leopard ultimately secured a 2-0 win. This was an entertaining match where both team gave a good account of themselves but Leopard had an upper hand as they collected the three points.
