Mbabane: The Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) has fined Green Mamba FC a sum of E20 000 for failure to report for card checking before the start of their game with Milling Hotspurs at Mhlume Stadium on 12 December 2020.
In a statement issued by PLE Chief Operations Officer (COO) Pat Vilakati, “Green Mamba FC is summarily fined a sum of E20 000 for violating Article 41(10) as read with Article 4(11) of the premier league rules and regulations 2020/21 in that on 12 December 2020 at Mhlume stadium green mamba fc failed to report for card checking seventy minutes before the scheduled start of the game.”
During the game, green mamba and milling hotspurs played a 1-1 draw.
This happens at a time when PLE has reportedly charged three clubs for also breaking the 2020/21 MTN Premier League rules and regulations. The clubs are, namely, Moneni Pirates, Pigg’s Peak Black Swallows and Mbabane Highlanders.
Black Swallows is set to face charges for causing abandonment of the match against Manzini Sea Birds billed for the King Sobhuza II Memorial Stadium in December. Moneni Pirates will also face the PLE’s wrath for causing the abandonment of their match against Mhlume Peacemakers.
Meanwhile, Highlanders have been summoned after one of their officials reportedly uttered abusive language towards match officials during an opening fixture against Royal Leopard which was played at the King Sobhuza II Stadium on 13 December 2020.
According to the Eswatini Observer the trio will be appearing before the Eswatini Football Association Disciplinary Committee on Thursday at Sigwaca House.
