The kingdom of Eswatini was granted the right to host the under-20 (COSAFA) Youth Champions.
The country was given the right to host the youth Championship by the regional football mother body during their Annual general meeting which was held at the Sandton Hotel in Johannesburg, South Africa. The country was represented by Eswatini Football Association (EFA) President Adam “Bomber” Mthethwa.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino grace the meeting.
Due to the coronavirus EFA vice president Dr Comfort Shongwe and CEO Frederick’s Mngomezulu followed the meeting via zoom. The tournament is set for December, exact dates are yet to be confirmed.
The Youth Championship was last hosted by South Africa where the kingdom was drawn in group C with the likes of Angola and Botswana,
Meanwhile, the country’s senior National Team Sihlangu Semnikati will partake in the senior men’s Tournament which will be held in Durban, South African June /July this year.
The senior tournament was canceled last year due to the outbreak of coronavirus pandemic at the same venue.
