Mbabane: A moment of madness in the last 12 minutes saw Sihlangu concede two goals in Brazzaville to go down to Congo.
After fighting bravely in the match played at the 33 037 capacity but empty Stade Alphonse Massamba-Debat, Sihlangu let in two goals in three minutes to remain rooted at the bottom of Group I in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. Prince Ibara who plays for Neftci Baku on loan from Belgian side K Beerschot VA put the host ahead in the 78th minute.
In the 81st minute, currently clubless left winger Junior Makiesse doubled Congo’s lead. Makiesse was last registered with Tunisian side US Tataouina and also played for Al Ahly Tripoli in Libya and Congo Brazzaville giants AC Leopards.
Sihlangu received a red card immediately after conceding the second goal.
Sihlangu remain without a point after three games as Congo Brazzaville move to second spot on the table with six points. Unbeaten Senegal remain top with nine points after Wednesday night 2-0 win over Guinea-Bissau.
Sihlangu will host Congo Brazzaville on Monday at Mavuso Sports Center as the search for first Group I points continue in what is proving to be a difficult campaign for the senior national team.
