Mbabane: Mbabane Swallows president Bishop Bheki Lukhele has paid respect to the late Thabo ‘Koki’ Vilakati, especially his success with the red and white giants in CAF competitions.
Vilakati will be laid to rest on Saturday after he succumbed to Covid-19 last Friday morning. The country’s arguably most decorated coach helped Swallows reach the group stages of both the Total CAF Champions League and Total CAF Confederation Cup years in succession in 2017 and 2018.
Lukhele sent a high powered delegation led by the Council of Elders chairman Absalom Ngwenya and club Premier League of Eswatini Board of Governors representative of Andreas Lukhele to Koki’s home on Monday.
Speaking during the visit, Ngwenya said the club president was deeply saddened by the sudden demise of ‘Koki’.
“The president has instructed us to come and convey our heartfelt condolences to the family. Vilakati made a great contribution to the club especially in its pursuit to conquer Africa. Football has been hugely affected,” Ngwenya said.
The club president then made a befitting E10 000 donation to the family which was greatly appreciated.
In attendance during the visit were former club officials Masotja Vilakati and Lloyd ‘Magic Feet’ Maziya, Team Manager Banele Cindzi, Communications and Marketing Manager Mancoba Mabuza, MC member Party Bhiya as we as other members of the Council of Elders and representatives from the Supporters Committee.
