Mbabane: The most decorated coach in the country, Thabo ‘Koki’ Vilakati has passed away.
The passing on of the coach is linked to the stubborn COVID-19 virus. Vilakati passed away last night, while admitted at one of the referral hospitals in the country.
Brother to the coach, Hynd Vilakati confirmed the news of his passing and said they were currently engaged in a family meeting to discuss the date of his burial. “The passing of our brother came hard on us and as I speak we are in discussions on the burial details,” said Vilakati. He mentioned that most likely the coach will be buried at his parental home at Nsenga in the Manzini region.
Vilakati leaves behind 4 children and his wife.
Vilakati has worked with various top football clubs in Eswatini that include Mbabane Swallows, Mbabane Highlanders, Manzini Wanderers and Green Mamba among others. He contributed immensely to the success of top Eswatini football team Mbabane Swallows that later dominated the continent.
