Mbabane: The COSAFA men’s under-20 championships is set to be hosted by the Eswatini Kingdom next year, 2021. This is According to the schedule released by the Council of Southern African Football Association (COSAFA), where Eswatini is listed among the countries to play host.
The COSAFA believes that the tournament will not be disturbed by the coronavirus and will continue as planned. Meanwhile, the women’s tournament is set to take place in two months’ time, October 19-31, 2020 in South Africa, Port Elizabeth where the country’s senior women’s national team, Sitsebe Samhlekazi, is expected to partake.
Sought for comment, Eswatini Football Association (EFA) Communication’s Officer Muzi Radebe said the association is aware of the hosting right which was handed to the kingdom, adding that the plan was yet to be tabled with the relevant stakeholders including government and COSAFA.
An article from cosafa.com reads; “Other COSAFA fixtures for 2021 include the under-15 boys’ tournament to be held in Lesotho from April to May, the under 17 men in August and the under 20 women’s to be held in Lesotho, Beach Soccer in Durban and Futsal in Mozambique, respectively.”
