‘Birds’ 8th best club in COSAFA, 41st in Africa

Mbabane: Mbabane Swallows are flying ever high.
In the latest CAF Club ranking, the ‘Birds’ are ranked as the 41st best club in the continent. Also, Swallows are listed as the eighth best club in the COSAFA region.

COSAFA is the Confederation of Southern African Football Association. Swallows are only Eswatini representative in the top 70 list with seven CAF points, thanks to their heroics three seasons ago where they reached both the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup group stages, two years in succession. The top 10 from COSAFA clubs is lead by 2016 CAF Champions League champions Mamelodi Sundowns, followed by Zambian giants Zesco United and Angola’s 1° de Agosto in third place.

Orlando Pirates and Supersport United of South Africa complete the top five.
Zambia’s Nkana Red Devils are sixth with Ferroviario Beira of Mozambique in seventh place.
With Swallows occupying eighth place, Zanaco (Zambia) and FC Platinum (Zimbabwe) complete the top 10.
Meanwhile, DRC’s TP Mazembe remains the best club in Africa with an impressive 63 points.
