Mbabane: With tight auditing regulations put around the Covid-19 Relief Fund by the Eswatini Football Association, some regional football teams with no bank accounts will not be getting a piece of the pie.
EFA distributed equally E1.2 million to the four regional football associations, Hhohho, Manzini, Shiselweni and Lubombo to help the mitigate the perils that came with the novel Covid-19. In essence, each regional association received E300 000 from the motherbody with the Premier League of Eswatini getting E700 000 and E175 000 each for the Referees Association, Coaches Association and Women Football Association- all members of EFA also benefiting from the financial windfall.
EFA has taken a leaf from FIFA in regards to spending financial injections which comes with governance model to ensure effective oversight, with strict controls on the use of funds and audit requirements.
Regional associations, Hhohho and Manzini specifically are adamant to send money to personal accounts and have advised teams with no bank accounts that the money will be used for their affiliation next season in a way of keeping level with the money governance controls.
