Mbabane: Eswatini international attacker Justice ‘Figa’ Figuareido is expected to make a permanent switch to Mbombela United after meeting Maritzburg United Management.
‘Figa’ will walk out of Maritzburg United after his loan stint with South Africa’s Absa Premiership feeder, The Glad Africa Championships where he played for Mbombela United alongside his national Sihlangu contingent of industrial midfielder Felix Badenhorst, the mercurial Banele ‘Pupu’ Sikhondze, goal machine Sabelo ‘Sikhali’ Ndzinisa and orthodox midfielder Njabulo ‘D4D’ Ndlovu.
The former Denver Sundowns youth product is set to join the list of players set for an exit at The Team of Choice.
Maritzburg United have already parted ways with defender Siyanda Xulu after the former Mamelodi Sundowns defender decided against renewing his contract.
Another player set for an exit at the KwaZulu-Natal side is winger Yusuf Jappie after he failed to command a regular place in the team this season according to KickOff.
According to a source close to Maritzburg, Figuareido and Jappie are set to meet the club soon to discuss their futures in Pietermaritzburg.
“Figuareido is currently on loan to Mbombela United. He is amongst the players set to leave and not be part of the plans next season,” the source tells KickOff.com. “The other player set to leave is Yusuf Jappie.”
‘Figa’ failed to command a regular place at Maritzburg under coach Eric Tinkler and with Eswatini-born strategist Siyabonga Bhembe at Mbombela, the future prospect is expected to make the switch permanent.
On the other hand, Maritzburg are expected to sign midfielder Phumlani Ntshangase on a permanent deal in preparation for next season.
