Mbabane: The Eswatini Football Association (EFA) call the shots on the current season whether to be nullified or to be continued. These was said by the organization’s Chief Executive Officer Fredericks Mngomezulu during annual general meeting held at Happy Valley Resort on Sunday June 28.
The final decision on what is going to happen to the current season lies with the EFA. “We could find ourselves in a complicated situation if we let the majority to take the final decisions, and the decisions we will take will not be based on what the majority wants”. Most opinion change week in and week out being motivated by personal interest. That is why the decision must be made by EFA however we will consider everyone’s contribution said Mngomezulu. He clarified that they are in talks with various stakeholders such as WHO and FIFA who are continuously contributing in finding an amicable solution to the current situation.
There are handful factors the Eswatini Football Association have to consider before taking what is being needed by the majority. Sponsors and other stakeholders need to be consulted. He also said they are doing everything which will go in line with FIFA and the World Health Organization’s guidelines to be sure about the safe return of football. Football lovers and teams will have to wait for another two more months before they know the fate of the current season which was suspended since March 2020 because of the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. Moreover Adam “Bomber” Mthethwa reverberated the words of Mngomezulu. When the season stops was only left with only two competitions, the MTN Premier League and the EswatiniBank.
