Mbabane: With the ongoing disagreements within the Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) on whether to restart or not restart football, Eswatini Football Association (EFA) has come out to set the record straight that it (EFA) remains the supreme authority of football matters in the country.
Team owners, as Board of Governors in the PLE structure have had differing views on resuming football in recent days in endless back-to-back meetings. EFA Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Frederick Mngomezulu said this afternoon, June 17 at Sigwaca House that they appreciate their members and their respective affiliates views, specifically the PLE but the EFA executive is the one that take holistic football decisions.
“As originally directed, all football competitions countrywide remain suspended and will resume from the point where they were, at the point when they were suspended and be implemented until their conclusion, with the current football season (2019/20) extended accordingly,” Mngomezulu said.
He added that while this was done, EFA remains in close collaboration with government and its international football governing bodies as it continues to analyze the evolution of the Covid-19 situation.
