Pigg’s Peak: The Yuki Masina Foundation, pioneered by football legend Dennis ‘Yuki’ Masina has come to the rescue of elderly people in densely populated Malkerns.
The foundation gave 20 masks and food parcels to vulnerable elderly people of this community. The food parcels according the Foundation co-founder Yazi Dube were a kind gesture from another former football great Rodney ‘Stumbo’ Charles who starred in defense for the once dominant Denver Sundowns and South Africa’s Moroka Swallows.
“The idea is to help the old citizens and get them protected from coronavirus as study shows they are the most vulnerable. It is normal that most, if not all cannot afford to buy a mask as they are not cheap and we also implore others to bring back the spirit of giving in this trying time,” Dube said.
Covid-19, a deadly pandemic first noted in China has spread around the planet, sending billions of people into lockdown as health services struggle to cope.
By midnight yesterday, there were over 5.1 million confirmed cases and over 330 000 deaths with about 1.4 million recoveries. The United States, Russia, United Kingdom, Spain, Italy, Germany and France are some of the countries hit with particular cruelty.
