Mbabane: Premier League of Eswatini board of governors have accepted the postponement of the meeting which was supposed to be held at Lobamba Technical Centre.
The decision was taken during a meeting which was attended by all the executive committee members on Monday. The resolution was taken by the PLE executive committee to correct a decision by the chairman Peter ‘Touch’ Magagula. The office of the PLE had issued a notice for the board of governors with one item on the agenda. The item was that of an update on the deadly COVID-19 that has halted local football.
When in the true fact of the matter 18 premier League teams signed the petition as per article v 25 of the organization’s constitution and submitted it to the PLE office requesting for a Special General Meeting. The chairman ignored the clubs’ petition and to issue a notice with only one item in the agenda.
When drawn for comment Pigg’s Peak Black Swallows Charles Matsebula said there was nothing wrong with the postponement of the meeting as they were aware of the partial lock down regulations of 20 people per gathering and he fully accept it. However he said the arrangement should have been done prior to get a special permit from government for the extra members. He also added that they hoped that government would grant them the permission to have the meeting since it was an emergency one.
Part of the agenda is the discussion of the 2019/2020 season, the 1.2 million PLE grant from FIFA and the increasing of teams for next season.
