MTN launches app to bridge social distancing gap

Ezulwini: As people are encouraged to stay at home in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak, MTN Eswatini has developed and launched MyMTN Eswatini App, to bridge the social distancing gap.

The app gives MTN customers everything they need, all in one place, at their fingertips, anytime without leaving their homes.

It is already available on Google App Stores and requires only few basic steps to set it up.

This new development was announced by MTN Chief Executive Officer Wandile Mtshali, when sharing the company’s updates as he continues ‘to steer the ship through the volatile coronavirus epidemic.’

The CEO who is working from home said the company had continued to play its part in reducing transmission of the coronavirus in the country alongside His Majesty’s Government’s efforts.

Through MyMTN Eswatini App, he said MTN customers can be able for instance to; manage all their mobile accounts and services in one place, find the best bundles and latest special offers, use the cart to buy up to 10 bundles at once, and resolve queries and get support from agents at the comfort of their homes.

“Most of our customers are now confined in their homes, amidst the ongoing partial lockdown. At this point in time, digital is the glue that can hold us together and create a bridge between the physical divide,” he said.

“We have used our capabilities and technologies to; maintain contact with our customers, safeguard access to MTN products and services, provide support to those who are working from home and students. In fact, we have introduced heavily discounted data bundles to support those who are working from home, and to help students to keep up with their studies, and we have also made sure that we make staying and working from home entertaining,” he further stated.

Alongside MyMTN Eswatini App, MTN has also developed and launched a new MTN MoMo Consumer App that enables MoMo subscribers to buy and pay for various services without leaving their houses.

Mtshali said the app enables MTN MoMo subscribers to; buy MTN products and services-data and airtime, send money to other people and to pay bills, deposit and withdraw funds from partner bank accounts, and to also manage their favorites easier.

As staying and working from home can be lifeless or rather gloomy, the CEO urged MTN customers to download MusicTime! to keep themselves entertained.

MusicTime! is a streaming music app that enables access to millions of music tracks without data, using minutes.

“This service offers a prepaid music experience unlike anything else currently in the market. It is also available from Google Apps Stores,” he said.
