Mbabane: The late Prime Minister Ambrose Mandvulo Dlamini’s wife Dumile Dlamini nee Thwala missed out his husband’s memorial service and will not be able to attend her husband’s funeral to be held on Boxing Day.
This is mainly because Dlamini will be laid to rest in accordance with royal dictates (lisiko leMalangeni) and during that kind of funerals specific people are assigned for the burial and women are not allowed to attend. This then prohibit Dlamini’s wife to pay last respect to her husband of 23 years.
Dumile’s message to his late husband was read on her behalf by Pastor Zandile Thwala. Dumile thanked her husband for his commitment to their marriage. She said doing life with Dlamini (late PM) was a privilege. She said she knew she was of paramount importance to Dlamini as he called her many times during the day just to check on her.
Dlamini will be laid to rest through this cultural burial because he was of royal blood and his royal lineage was revealed. His family tree dates back to Mswati II.
Dlamini’s royal lineage, as articulated by Prince Masitsela, it begins with Mswati II who gave birth to Mbandzeni who then gave birth to Malunge who fathered Mphatfwa (Mandvulo’s father).
