Nokwane, Eswatini – In a momentous event commemorating 50 years of the Umbutfo Eswatini Defence Force (UEDF), His Majesty King Mswati III proudly christened the new recruits who successfully completed their training at the Tingcayingcayi regiment. During the celebration, His Majesty emphasized the importance of recognizing the soldiers as cherished members of society and encouraged the nation to support and protect them as they undertake their duties.

Addressing the recruits, His Majesty acknowledged the challenges the nation has faced recently and expressed his admiration for their perseverance and dedication. He emphasized that their graduation ceremony represented an opportunity for the nation to appreciate the critical role played by the UEDF in upholding the constitution and safeguarding the lives of all citizens.

With the COVID-19 pandemic limiting previous pass-out ceremonies, His Majesty expressed gratitude for the return to normalcy and praised the recruits for their commitment in testing times. He reminded them of the significance of their chosen profession, highlighting the values of sacrifice, loyalty, and integrity that underpin military life.

Being a soldier, according to His Majesty, is a distinctive calling that demands selflessness and unwavering commitment to duty. He encouraged the recruits to remain steadfast in upholding their oath, even when they are not in uniform, and to always stand for truth and justice. The King also urged them to remain vigilant against those who might try to mislead them, emphasizing the importance of adhering to military values.

The ceremony served as a moment of pride for parents, friends, and relatives who witnessed their loved ones officially assuming their oath of service. His Majesty praised the UEDF for their exceptional work in protecting the nation’s sovereignty, peace, and stability. He commended the soldiers for their continuous display of dignity, honesty, and respect while executing their duties under challenging circumstances.

The King acknowledged the soldiers’ contributions beyond their traditional roles, highlighting their involvement in healthcare and the economy. The UEDF operates clinics that provide medical assistance to civilians, making healthcare more accessible to communities across the country. Their efforts align with the nation’s goals of achieving sustainable development, particularly in ensuring citizens have easier access to healthcare facilities.

Recognizing the pivotal role of peace and security in attracting investors, His Majesty encouraged the soldiers to remain vigilant in combating all forms of criminal activity that could hinder the country’s economic growth. He emphasized that a secure and peaceful environment was vital for attracting international investors to consider Eswatini as a prime investment destination.

In conclusion, the christening ceremony and double celebration showcased the resilience and dedication of the UEDF recruits. His Majesty King Mswati III reiterated his unwavering support and urged the entire nation to embrace and protect these soldiers who faithfully serve Eswatini, ensuring the nation’s stability, prosperity, and security for the future.
