Mbabane: Eswatini Post and Telecommunications (EPTC) now has a new Managing Director.
The post of Managing Director (MD) has been vacant for over six months since Petros Dlamini left the organization.
On Monday, EPTC Board Chairman Mtiti Fakudze unveiled Themba Khumalo as the new Managing Director for the telecoms giant.
Khumalo comes with vast experience in the telecommunications sector as he has held executive positions in many telecommunications companies within and outside the country.
According to the board chairman, Khumalo started his career at EPTC in around 1982 as an engineer, where he climbed the leadership ladder until he left the company.
Khumalo comes at a time where EPTC is faced with a number of challenges which include the unbundling from MTN, and also to drive a strategy of making the company profitable.
Making his remarks Khumalo thanked the appointment and promised to work closely with the board, staff, and all stakeholders to ensure that the company succeeds.
He highlighted the challenges faced by most fixed operators across the globe and promised to apply himself to ensure the success of EPTC.
“Nothing beats working together, “with the challenges and the stage at which the company is at, at the present moment, nothing beats working together and put everything aside, work to progress towards the strategic objective of the organization,” he said
He thanked the board for trusting him with the duty to lead EPTC.
He highlighted that it might call for sacrifices to achieve the demands of the board and ensure that it achieves its strategic objectives.
He assured the board that he will ensure to work hard and ensure that a lot is achieved and to ensure that the company is profitable by coming up with a plan to take the company forward.
