Mbabane: The ministry of health has announced that vaccination for people who are aged 18 and above will begin today.
In a press statement the Minister of Health Lizzie Nkosi stated that vaccination is the only way to fight and win COVID-19.
“The ministry of health is excited to announce that everyone aged 18 and above is officially eligible to get vaccinated against COVID-19 in all vaccination sites across the country with effect from Monday 30 August 2021.” The ministry urged everyone to visit a nearest vaccination point and get vaccinated.
EmaSwati are encouraged to pre-register for vaccination at https://www.eswatinihealth.org/vaccine-registration. “The website can be accessed without using data. Those being vaccinated should bring their pre-registration code and their National ID card.”
In the statement, the minister stated that it was critical that all emaSwati up their sleeves and get vaccinated in order to protect friends, families and the entire nation.
“It is up to each and every one of us to do our part and to be protectors of our Kingdom,” she said.
The minister stated that vaccination is the best and most effective way to defeat COVID-19 alongside wearing a must maintaining social distancing and regularly washing hands with running water and soap.
The minister highlighted that it was not enough for only some members of society to do their part and get vaccinated. We are all encouraged she said. She said every Liswati should get their jabs as soon as possible and continue observing all COVID-19 prevention protocols.
According to daily statistics releases by the ministry of health as at 29 August 2021, about 154 160 emaSwati has been vaccinated, this amounts to 13.2 percent of the entire population.
To date the COVID-19 virus has infected about 42 828 people in the country and about 1 081 has died
