Oshoek: Thousands of members of Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) South Africa had gathered at the Oshoek border gate on Friday in solidarity with its members of the EFF Swaziland.
Buses coming from Ermelo, Mbombela, and other areas around South Africa were all heading to Oshoek.
This comes after EFF South Africa stated that they will come and unite with its members local for the ongoing calls for democratic reforms.
Eswatini is experiencing protests which are calling for political change that has left almost 60 people losing their lives and hundreds getting serious injuries in the hands of armed forces while demanding democracy, therefore some political parties in neighboring countries such as South Africa and Zambia had joined masses with the people of Eswatini to fight for change.
Meanwhile, EFF Swaziland members who were en route to Osheok boarded to meet their South African counterparts were blocked by police along the way at Nkoyoyo.
It is alleged that some were shot at Nkoyoyo by the Eswatini police who were trying to stop them from going to Oshoek to join the masses with EFF SA, EFF Swaziland General Secretary Ncamiso Ngcamphalala confirmed that members of EFF Swaziland were blocked while driving to Oshoek and were fired with a rubber bullet by the police while the Umbutfo Eswatini Defense force(UEDF) managed to hold one member he is still unknown where he was taken.
“The forces are doing all they can to stop us from going to Oshoek they are all over Nkoyoyo firing rubber bullets to our members who are trying to head to Oshoek, ”said Ngcamphalala.
Ngcamphalala added that only members of the EFF Swaziland who decided to travel yesterday managed to be at Oshoek, as for today they are all restricted from attending which is something that will let down the struggle from the Eswatini side. ”Ngcamphalala said.
