Mbabane: Retired government spokesperson, Percy Simelane has been appointed Director of Communications for the King’s Office.
Simelane’s appointment comes at a time where there is huge political unrest in the country pointing to the Head of State King Mswati III and the lavish lifestyle demonstrated by some members of the Royal Family.
Chief Officer in the King’s Office, Chief Mgwagwa Gamedze told Eswatini Broadcasting and Information Services (EBIS) that Simelane has been appointed and will be responsible for establishing the communications office within the King’s Office.
Worth noting is that Simelane who is expected to be the mouthpiece of the King’s Office which handles affairs for the Royal Family has a rich history in the media and communications space.
The Royal family is faced with serious criticism from the international media and the international community.
Simelane retired as the government spokesperson in February 2020 and his position was taken by his deputy Sabelo Dlamini.
Simelane has also worked as the director for the Eswatini Broadcasting and Information Service (EBIS).
Simelane served for many years within governed as a spokesperson and was known for his tactics and being a spin doctor for the government when dealing with local and international media.
