Teacher wins MTN MoMo Trolley Dash on his birthday

MTN MoMo trolley dash Winner Meshack Nkambule being assisted at the till point

Mbabane: It was a beautiful birthday for 52-year-old Meshack Nkambule (52), a teacher from Dvokodvweni High School after he won the second MTN MoMo 10th anniversary trolley dash on Saturday.

Nkambule, who retires in eight years, dashed through the aisles of the OK Mini Mark Mhlaleni supermarket, grabbing different household items within the 60 seconds he had. Before he set out for the trolley dash, Nkambule looked around the store and prepared his strategy to collect the foodstuff he needs most.

In an interview, Nkambule explained that his game plan was to grab as much groceries as possible to lessen the burden of buying foodstuffs for this month, especially because he has a big family of two wives and eight children.

Throughout the dash, he kept his speed in check. Consequently, he managed to collect groceries worth just over E1 000, which included fruits, tinned fish, rice, cooking oil, and sugar, amongst other items.

Although people who cheered on him reminded Nkambule not to forget meat, he ignored this call. “Meat was the least of my worries,” he explained. “I only feel bad that I was not able to take beans much as I thought I would get all the way around, but the 60 seconds just flew by.”

“Because of the trolley dash, I could say that I ended up with one of the best birthdays I have ever had,” he said.

He said now that he had been able to get relief from buying groceries; he would use the money he was supposed to spend on these groceries elsewhere.

Nkambule said he uses MTN MoMoPay to make payments because it is safe, convenient, and easy to use. However, he said he was not aware of the MTN MoMo 10th anniversary promotion until he won.

He congratulated MTN MoMo for reaching the 10 years milestone.

“Thank you MTN for introducing MTN MoMo in Eswatini. We are now able to do a lot of things anywhere and anytime,” he said.

This was the second MTN MoMo 10th anniversary trolley dash. To stand a chance to win a trolley dash, all you have to do is make payments from as little as E100 using MTN MoMoPay to qualify for the draw. The runner-up prizes are four grocery vouchers worth E500.

There is a lot in store for MTN MoMo customers as the 10th – anniversary celebrations continue throughout the year. MTN has lined up different prizes worth E1 million to spread the excitement and reward customers for choosing MTN MoMo in the past 10 years. The most exciting prizes are two brand new Nissan NP200 bakkies.
