Mbabane-His Majesty King Mswati IIIhas admitted to had tested positive for COVID-19 in the 1st week of January 2021 but has since recovered from the pandemic.
The King made this revelation on Friday at the houses of Parliament when delivering his speech from the throne, to mark the official opening of the 3rd session of the 11th Parliament.
This comes after there has been speculations on social media about the King’s COVID-19 status. Social media has been sent abuzz about the King’s health status as he had been out of public sight for quite some time.
This puts the King amongst the world leaders who tested positive for COVID-19 and this includes the now former President of the United States of America Donald Triump, United Kingdom Prime Minister Boris Johnson, France’s President Vlamid Putin to name but a few. Fortunately, all this leaders recuperated from the deadly pandemic.
Meanwhile, Eswatini lost the Prime Minister Ambrose Mandvulo Dlamini due to COVID-19. Dlamini died late last year (2020). Two cabinet ministers also succumbed to the pandemic.
