Govt has awarded 3000 scholarships worth E150 million

The late Minister of Labour and Social Security Makhosi Vilakati

Mbabane: Minister of Labour and Social Security Makhosi Vilakati says Government is still working on awarding more scholarships to deserving Emaswati students.

Vilakati said already, Government has awarded 3000 scholarships for the current academic year which amounts to E150 million.

Minister Vilakati added that they will be releasing another batch of scholarship award letters on Friday therefore appealed for patience from the Nation.

“We appeal to tertiary institutions not to send students home just yet. We are also working on a special programme to assist OVC students,” said Vilakati.

Minister Vilakati went on to say it is also important to highlight that pass rates for this academic year were very high hence the competition for scholarships is stiff.

“We further wish to clarify that Government cannot support all students that get enrolled in tertiary institutions,” said Vilakati.
