Mbabane: Minister of Public works and Transport Chief Ndlaluhlaza Ndwandwe says the road from Mhlaleni to Nhlangano no longer needs fixing of the potholes but needs complete upgrading.
Ndwandwe was making his submissions at the House of Assembly on Wednesday where he was responding to oral question raised by Lobamba Lomdzala Member of Parliament Marwick Khumalo.
MP Khumalo was asking the Honourable Minister if he could inform the Honourable House if the Government employees in the public works department are fully utilized, if not, why and how is the government planning to address the issue ?
Minister Ndwandwe told the august house that the employees are often not utilized mainly because they lack protective clothing and equipment. He added that one big issue faced by the Ministry was insufficient/limited resources and that also affect the work of his ministry in fixing the Yith’Abantu road (Mhlaleni-Nhlangano road).
He added that one stumbling block which hinders the fixing of the road was insufficient funds.
Meanwhile, Manzini South MP Thandi Nxumalo moved a motion that the House of Assembly adopts the report of the Finance sessional committee on the supplementary appropriation (NO.04) Bill 2020, Bill NO.18 of 2020. This motion seek to ask to take 30 percent of the line Ministries budget so to provide funds to the Ministry of Public Works and Transport for funding the on-going government shortages of fuel.
The report was fairly adopted as the lawmakers asked the government to support the Ministry of Transport on this issue of shortages of fuel for government vehicles.
Madlangemphisi MP said he hoped that this will help the government in providing service to the people hence it should be supported at all cost.
