Mbabane: Prime Minister Ambrose Mandvulo Dlamini says the country stands to derive numerous gains from having a world class and seamless road infrastructure.
The PM was speaking at the conclusion of his tour of the 30kms Manzini-Mbadlane highway on Friday. The project is set to be completed in May 2021 and it is reported to have employed about 1500 Emaswati.
Dlamini said the importance of having a world class and seamless road infrastructure cannot be ignored as it avails numerous spin-offs for the Nation. Not only does it improve access to all kinds of economic activity along these routes and connects the country to the different regions, but it also ensures road safety for all users.
“The development and improvement of this road network we have just toured today provides a good platform for business activity to thrive as it allows businesses to easily access markets and the public to conveniently access crucial goods and services.” Dlamini said.
PM added that infrastructural development is a catalyst for sustained economic growth. It does not only position the country as an attractive investment destination but spurs the creation of job opportunities and the creation of wealth.
The Premier highlighted that at a time when the global economy, including that of Eswatini, has been shaken by the COVID-19 pandemic, it is ever so important that the government continue implementing big projects that will catapult economic activity and continue to create jobs at a faster pace.
