Mbabane: Eswatini Communications Commission (ESCCOM) has donated 945 laptops and 21 trolleys to 21 selected schools in the country.
Speaking during the ESCCOM Universal Access and Services Projects handover held at the Hilton Inn Hotel on Wednesday, Minister of Education and Training Lady Howard Mabuza said 20 High schools and University of Eswatini in the Institute of Distance Education (IDE) will receive 45 laptops and 1 trolley each institution. Mabuza said five (5) schools from each of the four regions of the country will benefit from the donation together with the Institute of Distance Education (IDE).
Mabuza said the devices will be useful to both teachers and learners as it will help learners not only to be equipped with digital literacy skills but they will also use the devices in learning the subject “ICT”. Teachers on the other hand will use the devices to enhance the delivery of their lessons and also for research purposes.
The Minister added that her Ministry is continuously working towards e-skilling young people for National prosperity and global competitiveness. Mabuza added that the donation will go a long way in ensuring the culture of e-learning is improved.
