Mbabane: If the saying ‘Pictures do not lie’ is anything to go by, the biggest sickbay in the country, Mbabane Government Hospital is guilty.
A random visit to the hospital revealed the breaching of the COVID-19 social distancing rule, where patients that had come for consultation at the casualty section were found sitting close to each other with literally no space in between. Some of the patients either wore their masks improperly or didn’t wear them at all, and the security personnel manning the area did not bother to admonish anyone.
When asked if they were aware that they were enabling the spread of the virus by not ensuring adherence to the rules on the part of the patients, the security guards did not have a straight answer but instead shied away.
When reached for comment, Director in the Ministry of Health, Dr Vusi Magagula said he was not aware of the breach of the COVID-19 social distancing rule at the government hospital and would investigate immediately. “I promise to check on the matter and if anything we will correct the loophole,” said the director.
