Mbabane: The government of Eswatini has dropped prices for Set Top boxes (Sgujana) to E100 each to ensure that most EmaSwati have access to local radio and television.
Acting Minister of Information, Communication and Technology Manqoba said when Set Top Boxes were introduced in 2014, Government subsidized them to cost E250 each now and now will further drop to E100. Khumalo said Government is working to curb the spread of #COVID19 & one of the best ways of doing this is disseminating up to date information via print & electronic media.
Minister Khumalo said this is also meant assist more learners to access lessons through ongoing radio & TV programs as currently schools are closed and proposed to reopen on July 6 starting with form 5s.
Through Sgujana, one is able to receive Eswatini TV, Channel Yemaswati, EBIS 1 & 2, VOC 1 & 2, France 24 & DW TV & there are plans to open up more channels.
