Mbabane: Minister of health Lizzy Nkosi has announced that Cabinet has approved hiring of 293 health workers to assist in curbing the spread of the coronavirus in the Kingdom of Eswatini.
Nkosi disclosed this news in press briefing held at the Cabinet offices today where she was giving the update on COVID-19 pandemic. Nkosi said the ministry will be finalizing the hiring of the health workers by next few weeks.
Nkosi went on to appreciate the donations of Protective clothing from the Central Bank of Eswatini worth E860 000 and also the donation of gift packages by Senator Tony Sibandze worth E86 000 which went to care workers and patients at Lubombo Referral hospital.
The minister announced 6 new confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country taking the total to 71. Nkosi said the ministry received 143 results, of which 137 came out negative and 6 were positive. Nkosi added that the 6 were already on their way to be admitted at the Lubombo Referral Hospital.
A breakdown of the health workers to be hired:
- 90 General Nurses.
- 15 Staff Nurses
- 10 Laboratory technicians
- 10 Network Engineers
- 2 Computer Programmers
- 54 Orderlies
- 5 Computer Analysts
- 3 Assistant HMIS analysts
- 4 M&E Analysts
- 10 Radiographers
- 30 Paramedics
- 10 Pharmacists
- 50 Nursing Assistants
