Eswatini records 21 new deaths, 208 new infections

Eswatini records 1st COVID-19 Death

Mbabane: The Ministry of Health have reported 21 new COVID-19 deaths and 203 new confirmed cases.

The latest deaths have pushed the country’s COVID-19 fatalities since the start of the pandemic to 319 deaths. This is worth noting that it is for the second time the country records such a highest number of deaths in one day as 21 deaths were recorded on December 31, 2020.

208 new confirmed cases have also been reported, bringing the number of confirmed cases in the country to 11 919.

The number of people who have recuperated from the pandemic have also slightly improved as 124 people recovered, taking the number of recoveries to 7 898.

Hhohho region had long passed Manzini region with being the mostly infected region. As of January 12, 2021 Hhohho region had recorded 5 023 cases in total, followed by Manzini region with 4 925 and Lubombo and Shiselweni regions have recorded 1 083 and 888 respectively.

Meanwhile, globally 91 699 836 cases have been recorded as of Tuesday, 12 January 2021 along with 1 962 788 deaths.
