MANZINI – Despite his shocking loss during the Primary elections, Lutfo Dlamini has committed to fulfill the objectives of his foundation.
The Lutfo Dlamini Foundation was awarded a whopping E1.6 million for the construction of the Endzigeni Rehabilitation Centre.
A question quickly comes to mind about the possible reaction by the former legislator when it comes to all the good work he has done for the Endzingeni Inkhundla following the negative result over the weekend.
Dlamini was quick to mention that the works of the foundation were never subject to results of the elections but were sorely on the objectives of the foundation.
“The commitment still stands, the foundation is here to stay. We are currently working on the timeline for events for the duration of the year.”
The foundation was awarded by the John Reid Charitable Trust.
The latter are a national funding organization with a wide ranging commitment to philanthropy around Australia. It was established in 1988 and is the only service of its kind in Australia for the people affected with complex mental health issues.
Lutfo Foundation was founded and owned by former Minister of Commerce, Trade and Industry Lutfo Dlamini. He is also the outgoing Member of Parliament (MP) of Endzingeni. However, the former minister lost the Primary elections to Bhekithemba Magagula from Nkamazi.
The senior politician finds it inevitable to hide his love for philanthropy as he is also the chairman of Philani Maswati which I another foundation focusing on charity work for the elderly in Eswatini. When quizzed for comment, he was quick to point out that the rehabilitation Centre was on the many sponsorships he earmarked for the youth as the peace and tranquility made it possible to secure such sponsorships.
“The Lutfo Dlamini foundation is my legacy gift to the youth of Endzingeni (we share a similar background of village struggle) and of Eswatini. We will use all the networks accumulated in my tour of duty as a politician elected by the people of Endzingeni and entrusted by His Majesty King Mswati III to amass financial help to improve the lives of the youth on education and entrepreneurship and drug rehabilitation.”
He also stated that as this was an award, the assignment and responsibility was to strive to fully account for every cent from the donors.
“My experience as a minister and charity person makes it easy to account. I want the Endzingeni youth to be in the forefront.”
The foundation’s application for the grant from the Trusts exceled and stood out among the many applications sent from around the world. This was confirmed by Natalie Perner who is the projects officer at Jon Reid Charitable Trusts.
“The evaluation committee reviewed numerous proposals and stood out for it exceptional quality, comprehensive, potential impact on the community. The vision to establish a rehabilitation at Centre at Endzingeni resonated strongly with our organization’s mission to support initiatives that promote social welfare and empower individuals to lead fulfilling lives.”
The Project Officer explained that the foundation will be working closely with the Trusts’ Southern African Development Community (SADC) office.
