Mbabane-Operations at six border posts between the Kingdom of Eswatini and South Africa that have been closed since 01 January 2021 have now been restored. This has been disclosed by the Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs, Nhlanhla Nxumalo. Nxumalo says the agreement to re-open the borders has been reached with their counterparts in South Africa.
The borders were closed as part of the pre cautionary measures that were put in place at the height of the COVID 19 Pandemic. The re-opening of the borders is with effect from the 01 August 2022. All cross-border travellers are expected to produce their requisite travel documents at the borders including their valid vaccination certificates if fully vaccinated. A negative PCR test is required for those who are not fully vaccinated.
The ports of entry that are affected including their times of operating are as follows:
- Sicunusa-08h00 to 18h00
- Gege-08h00 to 16h00
- Bulembu-08h00 to 16h00
- Sandlane-08h00 to 16h00
- Nsalitje-08h00 to 18h00
- Lundzi-08h00 to 16h00
