Mbabane: Former Minister of Information, Communications and Technology (ICT) Dumisani Ndlangamandla has passed on due to COVID-19 related illnesses.
Ndlangamandla who was working as Lecturer at Ngwane Teachers Training College died on Friday night while he was still taking treatment for COVID-19.
His elder brother Mduduzi Ndlangamandla confirmed his demise. He (Mduduzi) said his brother started having flue like symptoms around Christmas and he died while he was still under treatment for COVID-19. Mduduzi said his brother had no any other sickness they knew about before.
Ndlangamandla won elections as a Member of Parliament (MP) for Ngudzeni constituency and was subsequently appointed by His Majesty King Mswati as ICT Minister during the 2013-2018 term. After his political career ended, he return to work as a Lecturer as Ngwane Teachers Training College.
He adds to the escalating number of public figures who have succumbed to COVID-19 in Eswatini in the likes of Senator Ndzameya Nhlabatsi, Prime Minister Ambrose Mandvulo Dlamini, Mbabane Highlanders Coach Thabo ‘Koki’ Vilakati, Health Worker Dudu Dube, Shiselweni Regional Administrators Dr. Vincent Mhlanga, Deputy Chief Protocol at the King’s officer Boy Mdluli to name but a few.
Meanwhile, the country has recorded 216 COVID-19 fatalities. The number of confirmed cases in the country stands at 9 482.
