Mbabane: In order to reach its target, the MTN BUSHFIRE has to raise at least E330 000 to be able to sufficiently donate and sustain its two main beneficiaries, Young Heroes and boMake Rural Projects.
Currently a total of E101 358 has been raised as of Saturday, and accepting donations close June 16, 2020.
The MTN BUSHFIRE has two major organizations which survive through donations collected on ticket sales of the MTN BUSHFIRE festival.
This year’s bushfire festival has been hit hard by the coronavirus pandemic and was postponed to 2021 due to the outbreak and banning of mass gathering.
This festival was switched to digital, and online donations were opened to rise at least E330 000 to sustain Young Heroes and boMake Rural Projects since they are the two most beneficiaries of the festival.
In a statement released by the MTN BUSHFIRE, organizers revealed that 100 percent of all the donations will contribute in assisting Young Heroes and boMake Rural Projects assemble and distribute Emergency Homecare Kits to orphaned and vulnerable children, and women in the rural communities in Eswatini.
The Emergency Homecare Kits according to the statement consist of food, face masks, hygiene products and medical supplies. “These will enable families to maintain their basic needs, meet stipulated health standards, and allow them to stay at home and stay safe in the midst of covid-19,” reads the statement.
Speaking to Independent News, House on Fire Communications Officer Phiwokuhle Dhlamini said the donations has come from all around the world, including countries like Botswana, Israel, the Cayman Islands, the UK, the US, South Africa and Eswatini.
“The donations will go towards our festival beneficiaries’, Young Heroes and Bomake Rural Projects, Covid-19 relief programme”, she said
Dhlamini added that the Keep the Fire Burning donation platform remains open until June 16, 2020.
