Mbabane: The Government of Eswatini has also sourced E25 million to create a Relief Fund in order to mitigate the effects of #COVID19 on laid off & unpaid workers in the country.
This good news were announced by the Prime Minister Ambrose Mandvulo Dlamini when addressing nation of COVID-19 response on Friday. Dlamini said the Ministry of Labour will announce the distribution guidelines of the Fund in due course.
Dlamini went on to say that the Eswatini National Provident Fund has also made available E5 million as seed capital for the establishment of an Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF) for Eswatini. There is currently no UIF or its equivalent in this country meaning there is no form of insurance available to protect loss of income.
Premier added that 113,273 people from 29 Tinkhundla have received cash through the Government food assistance programme. This number will increase daily until the disbursement is completed. Those who registered but did not receive assistance should call 112. P
“While we strategically open up our economy, it is important to emphasize that there is still no cure or vaccine for #COVID19. It is therefore essential that we continue to observe all the health precautions to protect ourselves and others from getting infected.” Dlamini said.
