Mbabane: The University of Eswatini (UNESWA) has made an announcement to conduct online classes so to ensure academic progress in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic.
The University Registrar Dr Salebona Simelane made the announcement on Friday as an outcome of the meeting held by the university senate on Wednesday regarding continuity of classes online amid the outbreak of the coronavirus globally.
Simelane said in as much as there were some lectures who have been conducting classes online but there were some students who could not be able to access their coarse materials because of technological challenges. For that reason the university has resolved to give a collective way forward for all students and staff members.
Moodle will be the official learning management for all students. All staff members will teach via this system and it will be supported by other online platforms like Zoom, Google Classroom and Google meet. Tests and assignments will be administered online as well and dates for practical sessions and examinations will be announced in due time.
The University revealed that registration will be conducted on June 1-5 online. Private sponsored students are urged to forward registration of E2500. 00 so to be able to access teaching materials on Moodle. Deadline for submission of theses for Masters and PhD degrees shall be extended to Friday June 12, 2020.
The University will provide students with 3GB data a month for learning for completing students which will be accessible through zero rated University website. Students will also be able to purchase discounted data from MTN Eswatini at the following rates: 3GB for only E35, 1GB for only E20 and 500MB for E15.
