Mbabane: The COVID-19 second wave is hitting hard on Eswatini as 16 more deaths were reported in the last 24 hours along with 208 new confirmed cases.
This latest statistics takes the total number of deaths to 376 since the outbreak of the pandemic in the Kingdom.
The number of new cases (208) as reported by the Ministry of Health takes the total number of cases to 12 944.
Meanwhile, the number of recoveries have slightly improved as 146 people recuperated from the pandemic and that takes the number of recoveries to 8 222. This means the recovery rate now stands at 63. 5 percent.
On another note, on Saturday, the world surpassed the 2 million mark in the total number of COVID-19 related deaths.
As of Sunday, 17 January 2021 there were 2,035,722 deaths recorded globally.
The world has recorded 95,211,861 confirmed cases in total as of January 17, 2020.
