Mbabane: Lockdown Gospel Music Awards (LEGMA) voting lines are now open.
This was disclosed by ACAESWA President Phetsile Masilela at Mountain Inn hotel during the unveiling of nominees.
Masilela stated that the voting lines were now open and emphasized that when voting, fans should SMS the artist’s code to 6677. Masilela urged fans to vote for their favourite artists to stand better chances of winning.
She said fans are reminded that they cannot vote for the Most Downloaded Gospel Song, Lifetime Achievement, Minister’s Award and President’s Award categories.
ACAESWA President Phetsile Masilela thanked their partners who are working tirelessly, ensuring the success of the awards.
She also congratulated the nominees who made it to the list. “Awards sometimes come with unfairness but I urge every artist not to vote for themselves but ask their fans to do so. The right way to do these things is to have the fans vote for you. The public has proven to be part of the process because reaching the nominations stage took the whole day,” said Masilela.
The LEGMA awards were officially launched virtually on July 11, 2020. In an event which was virtually graced by the presence of the Minister of Sports Culture and Youth Affairs Harries Madze Bulunga, Who emphasize on the importance of utilizing the latest technology to keep up the arts industry.
Nominations for the awards opened just after the launch and were closed on the last week of August. There are over 20 categories for the awards. Nomination and votings are done virtually with the help of mobile telecommunications companies.
The awards are meant to celebrate our local gospel music artists and their achievements. It is meant to recognize those that have contributed to the gospel music industry over the years. According to LEGMA the aim is to put to spotlight and honor gospel artists for their labor and industry dedication in spreading the message of Jesus Christ through Gospel music.
