Mbabane: As a true friend of music, despite COVID-19 economic challenges, old mutual has contributed a sum of E10, 000 towards the Lockdown Eswatini Gospel Music Awards (LEGMA)
Old Mutual has always been supporting music in the country especially, choral music competitions and this time they have joined hands to support the Lockdown Gospel Music Awards.
The sponsorship was announced by Elvis Dlamini representing the Old Mutual Eswatini brand and sponsorship committee in an event held at the Old Mutual offices in Mbabane.
The event was graced by the presence of management from Old Mutual Eswatini and representatives from the Association of Christian Artists of Eswatini (ACAESWA) as well as Nhlanhla Mathunjwa who is also the Public Relations Officer (PRO) for the awards.
Dlamini, said that as Old Mutual Eswatini, they were passionate about serving the people of Eswatini, and that was why “we found it imperative that we give back through being part of the sponsors of the awards in celebrating the gospel music industry and the legends.” He added that the reason they were so passionate about supporting music is that music not only touches the spirit but also the soul and brings healing to the sick and broken hearted particularly, in such trying times.
The sponsorship, according to Dlamini is specifically a cash price for the best artist of the year category. Out of all the categories, Dlamini said as a company they have decided to take and sponsor this category.
Making his remarks Nhlanhla Mthunjwa, Public Relations Officer of the awards, thanked Old Mutual for the sponsorship, adding that it was through such sponsorships that will make the awards a success. He requested old mutual to look into having tailored insurance products that will benefit artists and further benefit Old Mutual.
Mathunjwa appealed for more sponsorships form other companies. He then thanked all companies who have contributed towards the awards. He highlighted that due to covid-19 lockdown, gospel awards will take place virtually.
