Mbabane: Eswatini has recorded one more new confirmed case of Covid-19 bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 15.
The Minister of health Lizzie Nkosi yesterday April 13, 2020 confirmed the 15th case of Covid-19.
A press statement released by the Ministry of Health reveals that a total of 15 results were received by the Ministry yesterday of which 14 tested negative and one positive.
The 15th case is a 59 year-old male of Manzini Region, who has no history of travel. The statement states that the patient presented with fever, flue and lower respiratory tract symptoms. “The patient has been evacuated to the Covid-19 treatment facility, and the ministry has already started contact tracing”.
If further states that 8 patients had tested negative and had been discharged. “Two cases have not yet been cleared for not fulfilling the discharge criteria, which is having a negative result on two consecutive follow up tests for coronavirus”.
The Ministry continues to request the public to cooperate with rapid response teams as they go about their duties finding contacts of positive cases.
Eswatini is on a partial lockdown in a bid to halt the spread of Covid-19, an infectious disease caused by the new coronavirus. The disease causes respiratory illness with flu-like symptoms such as a dry cough, high fever, and in more severe cases, difficulty in breathing.
People can protect themselves by washing hands frequently, avoiding touching their faces, and avoiding close contact with (staying at least one meter away from) other people.
The virus was first recorded in Wuhan, china, in December 2019, and rapidly spread to other parts of the world. according to statistics in the coronavirus world meter as of April 14,2020, 4:00am there are 1 925 179 confirmed cases worldwide with 119 701 deaths and 447 833 recoveries since the outbreak over the past three months.
