Mbabane: COVID-19 patients are reported to be gathering every night for prayers, which is attributed to the rising recovery rate at both the referral hospitals at Siteki in the Lubombo region and Mavuso Quarantine Center at Manzini.
The COVID-19 recovered patients who spoke on condition of anonymity said they have been gathering together at night, all without the supervision of hospital staff and prayed for their healing as well as the end of the situation, which according to the sources have borne fruits as evidenced by the improved recovery rate.
As of yesterday, the recovery rate stood at 82.6 per cent.
Minister of Health, Lizzie Nkosi said she encouraged the prayerful attitude on the part of the COVID-19 positive patients, saying recovering from the COVID-19 infection involves all aspects of life including the spiritual part. She said without God there is actually nothing that humans can do and the patients’ resolve to come together every night is something that is worthy of being cheered.
“In fact, besides the outbreak, hospitals are known for saying prayers before the start of business and the referral hospitals cannot be an exemption,” said the minister.
The patients at the referral hospitals are said to organize their own sessions, with MCs and ministers of the Word, all without taking direction from the nurses and doctors.
The minister lauded the effort exerted by the supporting staff saying they worked as a team and complimented each other very well. She said one could not do anything without the assistance of the other.
