Mbabane: The number of active cases in Eswatini dropped significantly to 941 on Sunday as a total of 119 patients were cleared of COVID-19.
According to the daily reports by the Ministry of Health, it is worth noting that the number of people who are still under treatment for COVID-19 has dropped as more patients were cleared of coronavirus. The numbers indicated that about 76 percent of the total confirmed cases have recovered and are back into their normal lives. Regrettably, 91 people have succumbed to the pandemic.
Manzini region have continued to bear the brunt as on Sunday 30 of the newly confirmed cases were reported from the region, taking the toll of confirmed infections in the region to 2 063. The second region to have been hit by the pandemic is Hhohho region with a total of 1 791 cases. Shiselweni and Lubombo regions have recorded 379 and 328 cases respectively.
Minister of Health Lizzy Nkosi urged people more especially males with existing medical conditions like Diabetes Mellitus, Hypertension, Cardiac Disease and Asthma to do physical check-ups and continue to adhere to their treatment as most of the COVID-19 related deaths were people who had the aforementioned medical conditions.
Nkosi further encouraged the public to adhere to all COVID-19 regulations which include practicing good hand hygiene, cough etiquette, physical distancing, wearing of masks and self-isolation where necessary or advised. Senior citizens above 60 years and those presenting with pre-existing illnesses are encouraged and expected to comply with hospital admission arrangements when they are confirmed to be COVID-19 postive.
