Mbabane: The Minister of Health, Lizzie Nkosi, has declared that of all places in the country Mvutjini, in the Hhohho region, is the foremost Covid-19 hotspot.
Mvuntjini is a place that is located on the left hand side, at the foot of Malagwane Hill.
The minister was talking in the Eswatini Broadcasting and Information Service (EBIS) program Letishisako.
She mentioned that as a result of the rising numbers government has embarked on a door-to-door, or gate-to-gate testing for declared hotspot settlements. Door-to-door testing is ongoing in Nkoyoyo, also in the Hhohho region, which saw more Covid-19 cases in recent times.
Nkosi mentioned that contrary to circulating rumours, there is still rooms to accommodate the infected in the Covid-19 referral hospitals, singling out the Mavuso Exhibition and Trade Center in the Manzini. She said door-to-door testing was necessary if the spread of the virus is to be controlled.
On the other hand, the minister said not all Covid-19 cases are taken to the referral hospitals but those presenting symptoms. She added that cases that do not show symptoms are isolated and monitored at home. She ended by reminding the public to adhere to the set precautionary measures like washing hands with soap and running water and using a sanitizer when water is not within reach.
As of Monday, Globally, there were 20,070,964 cases, total recoveries are 2,929,925 with 734,779 recoveries. This means there are 6,406,260 active cases and there are 215 affected countries.
In Eswatini, there are 3,236 confirmed cases, 58 deaths and 1,607 recoveries.
